Terry Dean Slack

August 18, 1948 ~ April 18, 2022 (age 73)


Terry Dean Slack, 73, of Dillsboro, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022.

He was born August 18, 1948, in Madison, IN, son of the late Harry Slack and Norma (Rayls) Slack. 
He served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Terry worked in sales for over 30 years, beginning with Cleves Welding, F & M Mafco, Walton's Welding and then for Indiana Oxygen.  He was also an excellent welder.
He was a member of Aurora First Baptist Church, Rising Sun American Legion , the Aurora Masonic Lodge, as well as, a former member of the Aurora Moose Lodge and Aurora Eagles.

Terry loved stock car racing and raced at the Lawrenceburg Speedway. He was known as "Slick" and drove "Mean Green 13".  He was also a flagman at the North Vernon Twin City Speedway, the Lawrenceburg Speedway as well as other tracks around the tri-state for more than 30 years.  Terry was involved in the Merrill Downey Memorial Race which was held yearly.  He was an avid fisherman and sports fan, and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports activities.  He also loved his dog "Red".

Terry is survived by his loving spouse of  almost 50 years, Edith (Armstrong) Slack, son, Terry Shane (Mary Ann) Slack of Greendale, IN; daughter, Lisa Mae Slayback of Dillsboro, IN; grandchildren, Brendan (Makenzie) Slack of Hebron, KY, and Corben Slack (Krystal Morris) of Covington, KY; great-grandchildren, Ezrah Slack and one on the way, Luca Slack; siblings, Rick (Donna) Slack of Sweet Water, TN. Sharon Collins of Madison, IN, Vicki (Pete)Young of Rising Sun, IN, Jill (Rick) Bradley of Rising Sun, IN. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Norma. 

Friends will be received Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Aurora, 6060 Blair Road, Aurora, IN. 47001.

Services will be held at the church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Pete Bryk officiating.                    .

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.  Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
Contributions may be made to the Aurora Masonic Lodge or Shriner's Children's Hospital.  If unable to attend services, please call the funeral home office at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.

The family would like for everyone to dress in racing attire, racing t-shirts, jeans, (casual).
