June A. Phelps, 100, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021.
She was born June 29, 1920, in Boston, MA, daughter of the late James Lawler and Ada (Shacklton) Lawler.
June worked as a laborer for the Thatcher Glass Company, retiring after over 32 years of service.
June was an animal lover and had a strong devotion to all animals, but she especially loved her cats. She had a strong interest in politics. She was considered very wily and had a sharp sense of humor. June enjoyed reading, and watching television, especially the News. She greatly enjoyed time spent with her family, all the way down to her great, great-grandchild.
June is survived by her son, Lanny Phelps of Sunman, IN; granddaughters, Angelique Gamble (Michael Fuscaldo) of Aurora, IN, Michelle Collins (Chuck Rudsell) of Lawrenceburg, IN; great-grandchildren, Lani Phelps (Jeremy Hollin), Eli Collins, Noah Collins, and Jacob Gamble; great-great grandchild, Prudence Hollin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ada; daughter, Penny Slayback; grandson, Michael Phelps.
Friends will be received Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana 47001.
A Memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 6:00 pm with Pastor Pete Bryk officiating.
Interment will be in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
