Adrian Chatham, who had made his home at Mt. Sinai, Indiana, for more than sixty years, died on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Ft. Thomas, KY.   He was ninety-two years old. 

Born in Gallatin County, Kentucky, on September 17, 1916, to Loyd Chatham and Susie Jordan Chatham, Adrian come to Indiana with his family at ten years old and lived in the area around Aurora for all his remaining years.  He was inducted into the US Army in 1944, was a Prisoner of War in 1944 and 1945, and was awarded the Purple Heart at the end of the War. 

He was a member of the Sparta Baptist Church and later the First Baptist of Aurora, the VFW, Seagram Retirees, and for many years the Mt. Sinai Cemetery Board.

Adrian is survived by his son, Donald Chatham, of Terre Haute, his daughter, Sharon Marean of Belchertown, Massachusetts, his granddaughter, Abigail Marean, of Brooklyn, New York, and two grandsons, Nathan Marean, also of Belchertown, and Casey Chatham of Terre Haute.  He is also survived by his youngest brother, Lloyd, of Columbus, Indiana, a number of loving nieces and nephews, good neighbors and friends.

Services

Calling Hours will be Wednesday, September 24, at the Rullman Hunger Denney Funeral Home in Aurora, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M.  The Funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Aurora, with burial to follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hogan Township Life Squad or to the First Baptist Church of Aurora’s Building Fund. Please contact the funeral home at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.
